Hi,When I used Suse I alos had artsd running, but I never had this issue, so I guess this is only a configuration problem.
I already set the idle time to 2 seconds, but when I launch Enemi Territory it always hangs. I have to kill artsd and then et runs throuhg. The funny thing is, that after the kill I can start ET any time and it always works then, it only blocks the first time I login to X/KDE.
When I disable artsd alltogether in KDE I will have no sound in KDE, right? I think I can enable the soundmodules via modules.conf, anyone knows how to do this? I know that in Suse it was configured this way, so maybe that's the proper way to go. This will also solve the problem that I have no sound when switching to runlevel 3 and startx via console.
Are you running ET through artsdsp ?
Arts blocks /dev/dsp the first time it is used, not when it is ran. Maybe this was why it worked with suse
bash$ artsdsp <et_executable_here>
bye,
Maxime
