Does anyone know the best way to set a global language for gnome applications under KDE for one user ?
System global is C, my wife's KDE desktop is set to Russian, which works fine for KDE apps, but we would like all Gnome applications (GQView, Gimp, ...) to be in Russian too.
If I add
export LANG=ru_RU
to her .bashrc, things work fine for the Gnome apps, but this seems to mess up keyboard layout switching to Cyrillic for KDE applications. Tried keyboard layout switching with X ("XkbLayout" "us,ru" and "XKbOptions" "grp:shift_toggle,grp_led:scroll"), with kkbswitch and with KDE's keyboard layout switching.
I have solved the problem by editing her KDE menu, adding LANG=ru_RU before each of the commands, and this works. But I would prefer to set this globally for her login.
BTW, anyone know how to compile Mozilla under Gentoo in other languages than English? (need French, Dutch and Russian).
