I've decided to give Gentoo a shot. I'm at the point of the install where
I'm waiting for the portage trees to replicate before I go any further...
(Yeah, I don't want to screw things up due to the server crash earlier
today. Er, yesterday. Just noticed the time.)

But I have two questions that I don't see answers for in the FAQ or
Install forums, that I'm hoping people will be able to answer for me...

1> The install document refers tp GRP repeatedly. [IE: If you are not
using GRP...] What is GRP? I don't see any obvious answers in the
install doc. It's possible I've missed something, but...

2> Some background... I've used Unix systems as a user for years. I've
run Windoes systems at home for quite a while. I'm currently running two
Fedora boxes, one of them is a server and the other a desktop. I'm trying
out Gentoo on the desktop first... (I've also played around with SuSE and
a few other distributions.)

So now that you know my background, one of the things I've been aware of
is depandency hell. In windows it's .dll hell. In Fedora, it's rpm hell.
But they're getting around it with tools like apt/synaptic and yum, which
resolve things for you. [Example: In an ideal world, I'll want to
install Apollo, which is dependant on mpg123.] How does Gentoo deal with
this sort of thing, or is the user supposed to figure out any/all
dependancies on their own, by looking at compilation errors?

Thanks in advnace,

Krikket
