I'm trying to use gentoo-sources and genkernel to create a kernel which can boot from USB and use DRM. However, I can't seem to get the ehci module to compile in the latest sources. In addition, the DRM stuff seems to require that I bump the processor type above a 386 (otherwise the DRM modules complain about cmpxcgh).
I managed to get 2.4.20-gentoo-r6 to work with an external USB drive after adding a delay to startup script in the initrd so that the USB can be recognized. However, DRM seems hopeless so I wanted to use a later version of the kernel. I'm a gentoo newbie, so I'm wondering if I just forgot something stupid, whether this is a real bug, or if I should be using a completely different set of sources.
