Ever since I installed gentoo on my new computer in October I've been
frustrated when I try to shut it down.

At the end up the shutdown sequence, the computer has only about a 50/50
chance of powering itself off correctly, the other half the time, it merely
stops with the 'Power Off' message.

I'm not sure how to narrow down the problem. I haven't really been able to
predict when it will turn it off and when it won't. Although I *think* it
has a much higher chance of powering off correctly if I had rebooted into
gentoo from my XP partition.

This same problem has persisted since I first installed gentoo using (I think)
development-sources-2.6.0test6. I'm currently using
development-sources-2.6.1.

If anyone can help with this problem I'd really appreciate it. I'm not even
sure where to start looking.

My motherboard is a reasonably new Soltek (model escapes me) with an intel
chipset. The CPU is a Intel P4-2.4gz.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me!

        Tom
