I have found the idea of a versioned file-sytem rather appealing, since I read about the suggestion in "The UNIX HATERS Handbook" <http://www.simson.net/ref/ugh.pdf> (see chapter 2, "Like Russian Roulette with Six Bullets Loaded"). I believe I read that some operating systems (pre-Unix or in the early 70s) handled file versioning automatically. I am not aware of any that versioning file-systems in widespread use, however.
