Hi, I want to upgrade to the latest gnome version (2.4.1). I have a cd containing the whole sources, but gzip compressed (not bzip2). I did 'lndir /mnt/cdrom/gnome-2.4.1 /usr/portage/distfiles' and tried emerge -pf gnome. portage now wants to download the whole set of files as .bz, it doesn't use the .gz files. It wouldn't be a problem for me to download the .bz compressed sources as I have a quite fast internet connection, but I'm curious to know if I could use the .gz ones too and if so how. So, is this possible somehow? (manually untar'ing the compressed sources or something??)
