To show a leak, it would be good to show increasing usage over time while the process usage remains steady. A single look at free only shows what you are using, without any indication if it is getting worse. What is the rate of your leak? On that note, there was a leak in the ext3 driver that was recently fixed. The daily slocate cron job made it particularly bad. What is your kernel version?
