I suspect it should be "emerge -e world". I guess this will only take 3-4 days :-) Should it really be necessary to recompile everything when it is just a new minor release of glibc. It was still the same version number, just an update from 2.3.2-r3 to 2.3.2-r9. I supposed it was minor bug fixes etc. Anyway, the rest of my system is working fine, albeit a bit slower due to the lack of prelinking. > If you see a new glibc in the mix, ask yourself, "Do I _need_ to > make this update?" because you'll have to reinstall > everything. Sorta like reinstalling Windows(R), but with far less > input, far less stress, and lots of status messages ;) :-) I am used to updating glibc being painless on Red Hat, it should not be worse on Gentoo :-) :-) Thanks for your help Jakob ===== Jakob Schiotz, CAMP and Dept. of Physics, Tech.
