Krikket, Hi. After your emerge, did you do an etc-update step? If so, did you notice it asking you to update /etc/fstab? I think it did. You need to set up that file again, like when you first brought the system up. replace the words BOOT, SWAP and ROOT with the correct /dev/whatever settings and you'll be back in business. As a bit of after the fact advice, be very careful about etc-update and the files it puts in place. We've ll been burned by this fstab one.
