This is false, you can build xscreensaver in a system without gnome installed. From the home page: While all that is required to build and run xscreensaver is X11, there are a number of libraries that xscreensaver can take advantage of if they are present: <description of extensions follow...among them are GTK or LessTif, XML, Mesa GL, JPEG and XPM, NetPBM or PBMplus, GLE> So, by disabling the appropriate USE flags, you can build it with no problem even _without_ gtk, xml, jpeg etc. (although you probably have them installed already to satisfy the needs ot some other package: for example, if you have XFree -and of course you have it-, you already have XPM installed). -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list
