I had read that the pentium m is more archetectually similar to the
pentium3 than the pentium4, wheras it is more functionally similar (in
respect to instruction sets, etc.) to the pentium4. I'm using pentium3
for my cflags.

Check out the new 2.6 kernels, they have a pentium-m type right in them.

Check out tuxmobil ( http://tuxmobil.org/centrino.html ). It is an
excellent collection of howtos, and theres one in particular that I
think is rather well done.
