After installing Gentoo from stage 1 and rebooting as per the instructions,
I get down to STEP 4 on the boot loading and get the following error
message:

STEP 3: Mounting necessary filesystems per boot options
Started device management daemon v1.3.25 for /dev
STEP 4: Determining root device
STEP 4a: Mounting root
mount: Mounting /dev/hda3 on /newroot failed: Invalid argument
Could not mount specified ROOT, try again
Root block device unspecified or not detected.
Please specify a device to boot, or "shell" for a shell.

To provide some background, I tried doing this with LILO and Grub with the
same result. The box is an IBM 300GL 333mhz with 128mb RAM and a 4 GB
hard-drive. I followed the installation guide intructions regarding
partitioning and have root, swap, and boot partitions set up on hda.

If anyone has any ideas, I'd greatly appreciate hearing them. It stink to
come this far and get stuck!

I'd love to see your fstab....
