I have the exact opposite experience - my desktop responsiveness has improved dramatically since switching to 2.6. One relevant setting is CONFIG_PREEMPT (under Processor type and features in menuconfig), which you want to be set for a desktop system. --Diego -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list
