gentoo-dev-sources 2.6.1-r1 devfsd 1.3.25-r3 util-linux-2.12-r4 loopback device compiled as module (loop.ko)
Like it says, devfsd apparently locks up if I try to loop mount anything. e.g., mount -o loop initrd.img tmp/ fails to return, and subsequently any process accessing /dev or the devfsd process "locks up" -- can't kill it, suspend it, etc. The end result is a locked system, solvable only by power off (the shutdown scripts do things to touch /dev I suppose). I can boot into my 2.4 kernel (same disk) and this does not happen. Thoughts? -- Steve Lawler -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list
