Sorry, I read about that right after I posted this mail :-)


For some large packages, e.g. Openoffice.org, there are binary builds in the Portage tree though
(in this example openoffice-bin). You can also compile binaries yourself (e.g. emerge -B whatever),
but they will be configured for your system specifically (compiler options, USE flags etc.).
