If she likes you, all is well and fine. If not, you may as well go find a Lady in Red(Hat).
I've installed Gentoo from the i686 live CD on 3 Athalon systems without much trouble and am currently installing the 4th.
I tried installing it on a PIII system from both the i686 and pentium3 live CDs and all I could get was seg faults when trying to untar the stages (I tried all 3).
During this process, I swapped out all hardware but the problem persisted.
