Desktop rejects icmp_echo packets, which can be done in different ways ...
1. by writing to icmp_echo* files in /proc dir 2. by firewall rules (iptables)
RIght. But I also cannot access the Web server on that machine, nor the ssh daemon. So it's more than an icmp issue.
