I use sun-jdk (from portage) without any trouble in firefox 1.0. I emerged it with mozilla use flag, so it created appropriate symlink in /usr/lib/nsbrowser/plugins, and firefox works just fine. That's all that was needed. I don't think emerging firefox with java use flag is vital, only thing that it does it make sure you have virtual/jre installed, only important thing is having appropriate symlink for your java version in /usr/lib/nsbrowser/plugins, ie. in case of sun-jdk-1.4.2.06 it looks like javaplugin.so -> /opt/sun-jdk-1.4.2.06/jre/plugin/i386/ns610-gcc32/libjavaplugin_oji.so.
BTW, for Java from sun, you probably shouldn't need whole sun-jdk, as somebody mentioned before, sun-jre-bin should be enough, but I haven't tried. -- [email protected] mailing list
