Hi, Stage 3 install on my wife's machine. (The DWL-520 problem machine using FC2) I'm using the x86-2004.3-minimal-install CD and working from this page of instructions:
http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/gentoo-x86-quickinstall.xml I'm at the last step in the second blue box where I'm supposed to use the command emerge --sync to download a first copy of portage but it's not working. I'm getting a set of messages something like this: livecd / # emerge --sync Notice: (-3, 'Temporary failure in name resolution') >>> starting rsync with rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage ... >>> checking timeserver stamp ... rsync: getaddrinfo: rsync.gentoo.org 873: Temporary failure in name resolution rsync error: error in socket IO (code 10) at clientserver.c(88) >>> retry ... rsync.gentoo.org resolves on my other machines, and the new machine has the same DNS addresses in it. The new machine was on the network before chrooting into the new environment. The new machine can ping my gateway, but it cannot ping www.intel.com, so clearly it's a nameserver issue.
