Sounds like you need to pick a new theme. I believe that X-Chat uses
GTK2, I've no idea what your VNC client uses. Install something
capable of changing GTK2 themes and try that.

You also might consider installing gtk-qt-engine if you would like to make your gtk apps use the KDE style. Also consider emerging gnome-themes and gnome-theme-extras if you want to have lots of choice.




After I install gtk-qt-engine or gtk-chtheme. Do you think I should unmerge and then merge back the products I want to improve?
