Have you tried emerge -f ? (it just fetch the packages you need without starting any compilation. I usually use it when compiling large sources, like KDE...i emerge -f in a shell and as soon as the first package arrive I emerge kde in another shell so that while packages are cimpiled, the other sources are fethced, reducing the total installation time) -- [email protected] mailing list
