just note that gdm _may_ need to be restarted for them to show up. just
logging out of your current window manager back to the gdm login might
not bring them up, you may need to restart gdm (effectively that means
restarting X)

I would probably ctrl-alt-bkspace at the gdm login , but theres probably
an option on the screen there.
