Search bugs.gentoo.org and see if there is a workaround.  If not, either 
add your info to the existing bug report or file a new bug report.  
Portage tracebacks are generally not user serviceable, unless the user is 
a python hacker.  Portage tracebacks can be caused by a bag argument list 
(occationally) but even these are bug-report worthy.
