You will probably find it more expensive to build a console server than to buy one (unless you just need one serial port - in which case an old PC with a serial cable should do it - you just need to configure a login on the serial port of the other PC and use minicom on the "console server" to connect). Another option is to find a used one on Ebay. Last summer I picked up a terminal server made by Digi (digi.com) very cheap. Cyclades (cyclades.com) also make nice ones (expensive). Cyclades make multi-port serial cards so you could build a console server (though it works out more expensive to do so). -- GPV /G-P-V/ n.
