Ok, you're right, no 3D acceleration. Now, with the frame rates you get, I'm starting to wonder if my setup is working correctly. You get about half my frame rate *without 3D acceleration*. Either your machine is pretty powerful, or my configuration is far from ideal.
So how do I turn direct rendering on?
Does "opengl-update ati" still give a symlink error?
I have a few minor differences in my xorg.conf:
- I use only one monitor, so "MonitorLayout" is "AUTO, NONE", and "DesktopSetup" is "0x00000100".
- "UseFastTLS" is "2"
- "UseInternalAGPGART" is "no"
No idea if those make a difference. Note that I am still running the older version of ati-drivers with xorg-6.7.
You might try again to post your latest /var/log/Xorg.0.log.
