I switched to xfce4 2 days ago, and had the same issue .. easy enough to 
fix though ....
create a file: /etc/X11/Sessions/xfce4

in it write:
        #!/bin/sh
        /usr/bin/startxfce4
Make the script executable: `chmod 755 /etc/X11/Sessions/xfce4`
Restart X
Done. Now you have it in your KDM menus in the login screen ...
