No need to reinvent the wheel. :-)  The package "stow" is meant to do
just that for packages in /usr/local.

The technic I described is so simple to apply that I never searched a tool implementing it, (bash scripting is not a problem 4 me) therefore I didn't know "stow" exists.

Thanks, although I am not sure if I use it sometimes, because rtfm
is much harder as retuning of script already done :-).

PS.
I am surprised why somebody decided to use perl for such a trivial task,
i.e. made it perl dependant.
