I have a Dell i8200 notebook that uses the "snd_intel8x0" sound driver. I use KDE and that uses ALSA. There is this little "applet" that is called "aRts Control". I think it's supposed to be a little audio meter, but more importantly, it's supposed to be a volume control. It doesn't do anything however..
if I launch the ass-ugly "DOS" looking "alsamixer" program, i can move the meter bars and volume does change. Also, in XMMS, moving the volume slider makes the volume work (and also will adjust the alsamixer meters too!). I looked at the KDE "Sound & Multimedia > Sound System" menu, and have the audio device set to ALSA. Is there some trick to get the applet to work? -- [email protected] mailing list
