Hi

I did this at last: I installed the 6111 of both nvidia-kernel and glx (emerge "<nvidia-kernel-1.0-6229"
&& nvidia-glx-1.0-6229) but I have the same problem again. I think maybe its because of X server. Should try to remerge it

Other thing I found strange: when I used startx before the error occured '' No device detected... No screen found) on the top of the screen there was somthing like:

Build System: Linux i686 kernel-2.6.9-gentoo-r13
Current Build System: Linux i686 kernel-2.6.10-r6

The thing is when I installed X for the 1st time I was with kernel-2.6.9-gentoo-13 but Now I am using the 2.6.10-gentoo-r6...

Cheers

Why not install the version you need with emerge?

Yes, you need to reinstall nvidia-kernel each time you update your
kernel.

Unix is user-friendly. It's just very selective with who it's friends are.
