[gentoo-user] Something unclear about "MAILTO" in /etc/crontab?

Hello lists:
  
   In my gentoo box, i am using vixie-cron as the cron daemon. The 
version is sys-apps/vixie-cron-3.0.1-r5 .
In the configuration file /etc/crontab there is a VAR named "MAILTO".
Is it possible to set real email address here?
Such as: MAILTO="[EMAIL PROTECTED]"
or only for local user?
