Well, this somehow depends on what you use the machine for. I for my part am using 2.6.10-gentoo-r6 on a few production servers (high availible printservers with heavy load and 2 oracle servers) as well as on my private desktop. Never had any issues with this kernel. Well as mentioned before. This is the setup that works fine for me, this doesn't meen it's the most stable kernel around...
