certainly looks like an internal LAN dns issue to me. 

But take a look at what you have done:

telnet bullet 143 : works
set evolution to  espersunited.com : doesn't work

on your lan, what happens when you type the following:

host bullet
host espersunited.com   


I'd hazard a guess that the result is different!
