The 5 year warranty that you get with Seagates says a lot about the
confidence they have in their manufacturing and testing processes.

Maxtor in comparison have a one year warranty. I manage servers for a
living (so perhaps the drives get a "bit" more usage than your average
user) and we have recently adopted a Seagate-only policy because of the
weakness of the Maxtor drives in this environment.
