I've never used DVDshrink. When I first thought about backing up some of my DVD's, I thought about using DVDshrink. However, with 'lxdvdrip', I don't appear to need DVDshrink. Plus, lxdvdrip is nice enough to show all the commands it uses to copy the DVD (it's basically a scripted front-end to a slew of other DVD applications like transcode, DVDauthor, DVDwizard, growisofs, etc.) so I can run any of them manually depending on what I want to accomplish (ie: if I just want to create backups on my computer for later use, just use DVDauthor or transcode. If I want to burn a copy of something I've already ripped, just run the mkisofs/growisofs command). In regards to rip times, depending on whether the DVD is dual or single, the streaming time can take between 30 - 60 minutes. The burning takes about 10-15 minutes. -Hani -- [email protected] mailing list
