I would say corporate IT _managers_ want this. Users, as we were defining them, just want it fixed if it breaks. Whether the management decides to hire smart talent to do support internally, or (sadly more likely these days) outsource it to someone half a world away, doesn't matter to the user, other than the amount of time it takes to get a problem fixed. You are correct though that Gentoo offers nothing that the corporate IT manager has been fooled into wanting. OTOH, a significant number of corporate desktops are now leased by the company instead of purchased. If a company decided to move to linux, there is no reason their vendor couldn't start with Gentoo, customize it for their PCs, and deliver it pre-installed.
