As many did I followed the instructions to upgrade to the new 2005.0 profile and symlinked to /usr/portage/profiles/default-linux/x86/2005.0.

As has happened to many an emerge -uD system -p tells me it wants to merge the 2.4 kernel. Well, I'm on 2.6.11-gentoo-r5 and have been on 2.6 for months. I checked the mail list archives and the forums and found no answers there - well a lot of discussion but no real answer - Some said why is it a problem, others had explanations but no answers. I did discover that if I symlink to /usr/portage/profiles/default-linux/x86/ I don't get the error message but will that break something??

In short - it appears following the instructions breaks things (else why have a 2.4 kernel recommended on a 2.6 system??) but is there a real fix for this problem yet so portage will realize I don't want or need the 2.4 kernels?
