If there is already a Linux distro installed on the system, you could use the Alternative Installation HOWTO: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/altinstall.xml#doc_chap6 IIRC, someone also posted some time ago their method for remotely installing Gentoo from an existing RH install.
