You can also search the package descriptions with "emerge --searchdesc".
But this takes ages, better use eix which is about 1000 times faster:
[EMAIL PROTECTED] wonko --> eix -S rlogin
* app-emacs/tramp
Available versions: 2.0.44 2.0.45 ~2.1.2
Installed: no
Homepage: http://savannah.nongnu.org/projects/tramp/
Description: edit remote files like ange-ftp but with rlogin,
telnet and/or ssh
* net-misc/netkit-rsh
Available versions: 0.17-r3 0.17-r4 0.17-r5
Installed: 0.17-r5
Homepage: ftp://ftp.uk.linux.org/pub/linux/Networking/netkit/
Description: Netkit's Remote Shell Suite: rexec{,d} rlogin{,d}
rsh{,d}

To use eix, "emerge eix" first, and issue "update-eix" after every
sync.
