Hi. Apparently fatx is the only file system that the mod chip BIOS
will read. These BIOSes seem to be set up primarily for gamers which
is not me at all. I'm trying to make use of the $149 xbox more like a
network appliance (storage, MythTV, etc.) and really don't want ANY
game stuff on the box if I can help it.

My hope is that if I could format the boot partition as fatx I'd be
part way toward makign this work, but so far I cannot find Linux tools
to do this. They must be out there, or so you would think. I did find
some windows stuff so possibly I can use them to get the partition on
but then I still need to be able to read it when doing the Gentoo
install.

Yeah, I did but haven't seen any responses. Actually I asked here
first since I really wanted to know if the ystem BIOS needs to
udnerstand ext2 file formats. For whatever reason a PC BIOS can do
this but an XBOX BIOS cannot.

It's a bit beyond my meager skills.

Thanks,
Mark
