Hi Grant,

I will try to get wpa_suppliicant running here at my hotel tonight, and
let you know if I learn anything useful. I'm in France, so that would
be during the day Friday your time. That is if I have time before
drinking or brain cells left afterwards!!

In the mean time, you could try bypassing wpa_supplicant and configure
the network manually with iwconfig. Something like 'iwconfig ath0 essid
"blahblah"' followed by "dhcpcd -i eth0" should get the interface
configured and running.

If it is just that you cannot get a DHCP address, you might try emerging
one or both of net-misc/pump and net-misc/dhcp. This will give you two
alternate DHCP clients (pump and dhclient) that may have better luck
getting you an address. I've seen pump work in some hotels where dhcpcd
didn't, although not recently. I'm currently using dhclient.

If that doesn't help, you can try running 'tcpdump -i ath0 -n' (or
ethereal) while attempting to connect and see if that shows you anything
interesting.

HTH.
