So if you wanna change some of the default portage/profile settings, which are in /usr/portage/..., this could be done throu use of /etc/portage/... settings. System-wide default settings are in: /etc/make.profile (customizable), throu change in profiles. Just like the dot.apprc files (in home dir). HTH. Rumen
