Yeah a friend of mine is going through this now. I think the main problem is with that whole XFree/xorg transition we made a while back, and only people that went through that (as opposed to people who installed their systems after xorg was standard, or who previously had a similar problem) are having a problem. Fortunately for me, I went through this several months back. Your /usr/lib/modules/extensions/libglx.so is probably pointing at /usr/lib/modules/extensions/libglx.so.1.0.7167. Try rm'ing this symlink and ln -s it to your /usr/lib/opengl/nvidia/extensions/libglx.so. That's like step one. After that, I emerged the ~x86 version of opengl-update and I think that fixed it for me.
