It wouldn't be maximised if it only took up half the available space :) It should be possible to do this in KDE with DCOP and a shell script, which you could attach to a hot key. Also, KDE has options to only maximise in one direction, by right or middle-clicking on the maximise gadget, which may suit your needs. -- Neil Bothwick If it was easy, the hardware people would take care of it.
