Yes, you only need to run vmware-config.pl. You can do it automatically
by adding the following to /etc/conf.d/local.stop:
# Rebuild VMware modules if needed
if [ -f /etc/vmware/not_configured ]; then
/ opt/ vmware/bin/vmware-config.pl default
rm -f /etc/vmware/not_configured
fi
