From my PIII's /etc/make.conf
CFLAGS="-O2 -march=pentium3 -fomit-frame-pointer -mmmx -msse -mfpmath=sse"
CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu"
CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}"
MAKEOPTS="-j1"
To confirm the mmx and sse flags, boot any linux live CD, and execute
cat /proc/cpuinfo
The "FLAGS" line should contain "mmx" and "sse". You should also have
mmx and sse in your USE variable.
