Thanks for letting me know that it is working elsewhere (thanks to Peter as well). So it's something on my system. Monolithic. After emerging gdb, I found it crashed in libpthread. I then found out that I was missing a patch for glibc. So that is was is compiling right now. Let's see whether it solves it.
