OK, let's start with xfce4-meta because there was only one failure. eix-update was done this morning and emerge -DuN @system is clean using ~arch in make.conf. Maybe we can find the error of my ways and I can move forward. BTW - The -cups -java flags doesn't mean I don't want cups and java. I found previously that putting those flags on the individual packages that I wanted cups and java support reduced the number of packages emerged during emerge -e @system and meant I could update @system more often and faster, and then work on @world at more quiet times. It did not change the number of packages emerged, just whether they were called in during @system or @world.
