Thanks for the response.

"dd" for the lazy -- takes 2 seconds to wipe the top of the drive
instead of getting rid of numerous partitions that the manufacturer
put on the drive.

The disk isn't bad -- if it was then I wouldn't have the ability to
recover the files via foremost / scalpel.
