For some unknown reason, my DVD r/w device is not detected as such by udev: I can mount /dev/hda and read a data CD, but /dev/cdrom is not created at boot time and k3b returns " No optical drive found. K3b did not find any optical device in your system. Solution : Make sure HAL daemon is running, it is used by K3b for finding devices." Well, hald IS running on my hardened amd64 system and /etc/udev/rules.d contains 70-persistent-cd.rules. Where should I look now to fix the problem ?
